At last - the new season is here!

Well, I hope that everyone had a great summer. Now that there is a hint of crisp air and the leaves start to turn, our thoughts migrate from the bike (and boat, and tent) back to the rink!

And Over 40 is back! We will run this first session very much like last year. $80 gets you 8 games, and we will make 8 pods of players and mix and match 2 each side.

Sign up now! You can do so at the rec center. The code that you need, as well as more info on all fall hockey programs, is in this PDF file. The rink will not be open during business hours until the ice is in and we are playing.

THANKS for a great season!

Well, the first year of Durango Old Timers has come to an end, and by all accounts it was a raging success!

Thanks to all the referees (especially Doug) who kept it fun and kept it real. Thanks to Matt and Jessika for everything from the format to the registration to the scheduling to letting us do this in the first place.

And most of all thanks to YOU for coming out and playing! Looking forward to another fun filled season in the fall. Have a great summer, stay safe, stay in shape, and see you soon.

The Commissioners.

Durango Old Timers Kiss Their Sister in Gunny

The annual Brent Carlson took place last month in Gunnison. Considered the 'Southwest Cup for Old Hockey Players' this even attracts teams from all over the western slope, as well as a few teams from the Front Range, for a weekend of fun, beer, and sometimes hockey.

Durango went undefeated through the round robin, to find themselves in the Championship game against some Front Range team I can't remember the name of. After a valiant effort, the teams were tied. No goals in overtime, so we decided to settle it in a shootout. Woodland Park managed to get a very questionable goal past Sykes, to win the tournament.

Next year we are bringing our own food, as our Ace player Rick Smith couldn't play on Sunday due to food poisoning, which we are pretty sure was the result of a spiked hamburger at the Saturday BBQ.

As usual, it was a real good time. Thanks to 'Gunny Bob' for being our number 1 fan (actually, our only fan) throughout the tourney.

One more week left!

Well, the season is winding down, with lots of great memories!

We have next weekend off, and will play our final 2 games on Sunday, April 26th at 9:00 and 10:15.

What do you think of a BEST DRESSED contest for the games?

After the last game, TAILGATE and BBQ in the parking lot! Please bring something to grill, and something to drink. We need some apps as well. Be creative!

Please add a COMMENT to this post with what you can bring, and your thoughts on costumes for the final games.

THANKS
Jim

The Rosters are Posted

The rosters for season 2 are now posted. There are about 5 players per pod at this point, which is great but we need more! I have been negotiating contracts with some level 1 holdouts and am confident I will have them signed before the action starts next weekend. There is also a contingent from down near the NM border that will sign as a package deal, so we should be able to have 6 per pod before the puck drops next Sunday morning!
